Stop The Bleed

The BCCA and the BEARR Group implemented the first of two planned programs on July 7, in partnership with the Warren County Fire & Rescue and the Browntown Baptist Church. The program was fully subscribed and everyone who participated commented on the high quality of the two trainers and the value of the new skills and knowledge they acquired.

You will be taught multiple ways to control bleeding in an emergency, including applying direct pressure, packing the wound with bleeding control (hemostatic) gauze, and applying a tourniquet. These are techniques that were developed by the military and proved invaluable in Iraq and Afghanistan. It has now been demonstrated that civilians trained in the use of tourniquets also have life-saving potential.

This course showed how to help a bleeding victim by taking immediate action while awaiting the attendance of EMTs. In these situations, time is a critical factor and outcomes are directly related to how quickly bleeding control can be achieved. This training empowers civilians to make a life or death difference when a bleeding emergency occurs.

The next program will take place on Thursday, August 11 at 6:30 pm at the Browntown Baptist Church Fellowship HallIT’S NOT TOO LATE TO SIGN UP!
